Toxic Love

Toxic Love

Roses are red, violets are blue
Pretty when they're young
But far away from truth

When needs start to grow
The tongue tastes sour
True colours begin to show

Deeply immersed in emotion
Everything else appears invisible
Breakdown is thus, inevitable

As expectations rise high
Minds are lost in dreams
Reality is eroded in eyes

When inseparables separate
Isolation - just can't tolerate
Causing irreparable damage

Obsession takes control
All dear ones are ignored
Life begins to take its toll

Deserted in loneliness
Miserable pain follows
Gloomy days of blindness

  1. A rose-inviting, alluring, tempting, adorned with invisible thorns. A prick harmless but bloody, a point of pain, begins to rot. Infection spreads, incapacitating; Ugliness spreads: relationship ends. Time moves on, hope dies. Pictures, half burnt, half torn, speak so much more than silent words. Time dilutes but never kills-toxic love
